Principles of Environmental Science and Systems
Evolution, Biological Communities, and Species Interactions play a crucial role in understanding biodiversity and the dynamics of biomes. Population Biology is essential in addressing challenges related to farming, food, and hunger, particularly in the context of sustainability education. Additionally, issues like air pollution and water management and pollution are critical in fostering leadership skills necessary for effective environmental policy, law, and planning. The focus on energy, ecological economies, and restoration ecology aligns with the UN Sustainable Goals aimed at promoting a more sustainable future.
Develop a solid understanding of foundational environmental science knowledge and acquire the leadership skills necessary to address both domestic and global environmental issues. Enhance your ability to analyze current influential tactics related to global environmental concerns and their effects. Participate in 15 hours of live instruction with a world-class professor, where you will explore the topic, identify a research question, and write a research paper with one-on-one support from the professor. Earn 2 continuing education units (CEUs) from UCSB Extension International Program, and receive a personalized letter of recommendation for top-performing students. Additionally, there is an offer to work one-on-one to extend and publish research started during class, contributing to sustainability education.
